Back in the day, Fisher Price produced a line of toys called “Adventure People”. It consisted of 3 3/4″ scale action figures and wonderful playsets, vehicles, and accessories to go with those figures. The two figures in this photo were called “X-Ray Man” and “X-Ray Woman”.
These figures were first released in 1980, which makes them (unless I’m mistaken) the first 3 3/4″ scale action figures to be molded in translucent plastic. The Empire Strikes Back’s 2-1B had a clear torso, but he also came out in 1980. TOMY’s TRON line were all similarly translucent, but they came out in 1982. The Crystar line also had a few characters with translucent plastic, but again, these came in 1982.
I was always fascinated by the X-Ray couple. They have a cool aesthetic appeal and, always a strong force for the collector mentality, they are a set. I wanted to photograph them in an appropriate environment and soon decided that the interior of an Apple Macintosh G4 would be perfect. Its also a well designed machine which made use of translucent plastics in its shell. And it just seemed like the kinda place a miniature android couple would spend time.

Still my favorite picture of yours.
